Default Trijicon Sights

I'm looking into installing the Trijicon night sights on my S&W 3906 and seeking info. or input to the use of these. Such as most of the shooting would be under 15-25FT. The pistol is used for home defense for the most part shooting 124gr H/P.

Thinking about the same mod from a 5906...Any reason you choose Trijicon rather than Meprolight? Opticsplanet is having a sale on the Meprolights.

Looking forward to some of the responses you get in this thread.

I have Trijicon sights on my 3906 and they are a real improvement over the factory sights. One good thing about Trijicon sights is that in the future when the lamps go dim, you can send the slide to Trijicon to have the sights relamped (currently $18 a lamp). Meprolight does not provide this service.

I just put a set of Trijicons my S&W 915. I liked them so much I ordered a set for my 908. Also note that there is a difference between sights for Novak guns versus non-Novak guns. Trijicon makes two versions for slides with the Novak cut, but only one for the non-Novak. There is nothing wrong with Meprolight night sights, they just don't have as many options for 3rd Gens.

I like Trijicon better than Meprolight(look where they are made). Trijicon has a nice white outline around the ampule so you can see it as a normal sight day or night. It gives definition to the sight picture. I own @ five sets on different guns. Green on green seems the brightest, but yellow rears and a green front work nicely also. I have not tried the orange rear, green front yet. I may do that on my Beretta brigadier. JMO

I have to throw in with the folks that vote Trijicon.

Having recently gone through the re-lamp process for 2 slides I sent in at the same time... they charged for one and replaced the other under warranty (not expected) because the year stamp on the side of the rear sight indicated that they had gone dim a year before what they state as the service life.

Working with their customer service people was great too.

Another thumbs up for Trijicon..I sent in a slide with out of warranty sights and received it back at no charge! Can't recommend more highly...I went with the green front and yellow rears...works for me.

Still another vote for Trijicon. I have them on several of my guns and couldn't be more satisfied. I went with all green. They shine plently bright and with the warranty and customer service and the fact that they're an American company makes them tough to beat.

Default Old Stock

Be careful and look at the date codes.

The Meprolight sights for my 4006 were already 3 years old when received by a major distributor. They are stamped on the bottom with a single letter indicating the year produced. Call Kimber for the code. As I recall, I was told that "S" was for 2010 when I started looking for night sights.

The trijicons from Optics Planet were current special order and as inexpensive as I could find.
They're marked on the side with the year in English.

My question now is would I lose the rear sight guard on the 3906. or do thay make an adjustable rear sight. Guess I'll have to contact them to find out, seems I'll be going with the trijicon sights.....

If you have the dog ear sights, the Trijicon SA01 is what you are looking for.

Trijicon for me....customer service is fabulous! I had them re-lamp 2 sets of sights on some LEO trade in 4006's . Turn around was very quick! You will not regret using Trijicon...
