Default Shifty 1st-3rd Gens

This weekend was the "big" Dallas Gun show, I walked around for about three hours and managed to get out with a nice liitle Colt Agent.

However I really was on the hunt for some 1,2,and 3rd Gen Smith Auto's, preferably a Model 39. Other than about 5 5906 Trade-in's there was almost no Smith Steel/Alloy auto's in the entire show. The only other one I can recall offhand was a 639 priced at $700...which needless to say was a bit much. There was a plethora of M&P's etc...but slim to no "Metal" guns.

Is it just my luck, or are 1st-3rd gen's becoming really hard to find?

Very hard to find these days it seems, except for the retired Police guns such as the 5906 and 6906. I keep finding the others in random places. Found the 1006 at a small shop in Florida, and 2 4506's from private sellers in my area. They are indeed getting snatched up.

They certainly are in short supply and typically don't last long when they do pop up. Around here, metal/alloy guns in general are more difficult to come by. Tax return season resulted in a buying frenzy and most of what was left over at the local GS were polymers.

In my neck of the woods, 3rd Gens still show up but not like they used too. But I do still see plenty of 5906, 5946, 4006, & 4506 pistols from time to time, and the occasional 3913! Dale
