Default Newest Acquisition

This is not only a semi-automatic pistol, it's a "semi" Smith & Wesson pistol!

I picked up this new Walther PPK .380 ACP (manufactured by S&W in Houlton, Maine) a couple of weeks ago for those rare occasions when I can't get away with anything larger. I have just over 200 rounds of FMJ and various JHP loads through it so far. It's accurate and has been 100% reliable to date.

I like it!

I carry the same quite often and like it, too. The laser grip is a little spendy but fantastic on this gun!

Very nice, those PPKs are great looking guns.

I have the early Interarms import of the same gun. Yes, it gets carried by me. I like it, but really could use more trigger time with it. Its a keeper.

If you get one that runs reliably, they're a joy to shoot. In my opinion, this classic, all-steel pistol is a step above all the polymer .380 pistols out there now.

Well Xtrooper, it appears we have something else in common. I just picked up the same gun today at a gun auction. NIB for $400 including the two mags. I had my eye on several guns but the prices were getting cheaper as the auction wore on and people left or spent there money. The Sigs I had my eyes on was at the beginning and went for more than wholesale. But I thought $400 was fair enough for the PPK/S

Hi, Ken! That's a super price for your PPK/S. I believe I paid $499 for my NIB PPK.

I explained it past the wife by saying I bought it for her since it would be easier for her to handle than the 642 I bought for her last fall. I think she went for it.
But I do have to follow through on a promise that I would not increase my gun numbers so I have to figure which one I need to sell. Thinking about the old Star Firestar M45 in Starvel that hangs in the gun case being I bought a CS45 last weekend

I bought the PPK/S version about four years ago and have never been dissatisfied with it. I didn't get it for carry -- it's just another around-the-house gun.

One can find some negative evaluations based on the recall and the presumed lower production quality in modern guns than one finds in the older European versions, but I don't believe the model has problems because some specimens do. If I let the characteristics of the few determine my evaluation of all, I would never own any gun.

Let me see......or motorcycle, or car, or _______ fill in the blank.

As I said earlier, my PPK has been flawless.

I have an early recall gun that never showed an issue. Went back for the recall but the gun always ran great and it feels PERFECT in my hand!

I had actually been looking for a Sig P230 SL but now that I look at the Walther, I'm liking it better. Especially the mag release. I use to have a P232 and had a problem with the lower mag release holding the mag in tight enough and the weapon had FTF problems. Boy is the field stripping different than any other pistol I've owned.

Removing the slide from the frame isn't the easiest thing in the world to accomplish, but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad.

I haven't attempted the breakdown yet but was reading the instructions. Kinda like the P232 except for the Sig has the side pin to remove and the Walther has the drop down trigger guard.

Once you've pulled the trigger guard down and to the side, the trick is to make sure you pull the slide all the way back to the absolute end of its travel before trying to lift and remove it. If you don't, the slide will not separate from the frame.

Nice Walther XTrooper! I always had a hankering for one myself, but wound up with a older PP model. If they ever made a PP in stainless I'd buy it in a minute!
The PPK and SIG P230 ARE the classic .380s! Dale

Thanks, Badkarma!

The PP is a great pistol. Years ago I owned a wartime PP and I'd like to get another one sometime in the future.

Ditto on those being great pistols. I acquired an Interarms stainless about 20 years ago and carried it quite a lot while working under cover.

I'm about to pick up a mint Interarms stainless PPK. The thing is just amazingly nice, and is the kind of gun every gun nut should have.
