5903 price
I was at a local store and they had a 5903 w/2 mags and the box...they want $449, should have put a down payment down.
It was in really good shape...is this a good deal? I will probably go back Monday and see if it's still there and do the above. Thanks, Josh |
Should not hurt at all to haggle a little. I would ask them if they could get it to you at $425 OTD--perhaps a little higher depending on your sales tax rate. Personally, unless its pristine, I would really have to be jonesin' for a 5903 specifically to pay 450.00 with all the nice 5906's out there going for ~300.00 but that's just me.
Make sure to field strip the gun and look closely for signs of wear on the barrel, guide rod and slide/frame rails. If you do get the gun, make sure to post pics:cool: |
IMHO, the 5903 is much better balanced than the 5906. The all steel 5906 is overkill for the 9mm cartridge. The alloy frame on the 5903 makes the pistol lighter and, for me, nicely balanced. I was lucky enough to have both in very, very nice condition. After handling and shooting both, I sold the 5906 and kept the 5903. ;)
Good luck. |
I would agree with scatterguy. $450 for a 5903 does in fact seem pretty high given the amount of police trade-in 5906 pistols floating around these days for $100 less. Not that the 5903 is a bad pistol, but if you're already going to have the large gun with a stainless slide why not go for the stainless frame too? Just my personal take on it. What draws me to the 3rd gens is the full stainless construction, if I want aluminum I'll just play with my SIG or Beretta. :D

not a bad price for an '03 IF in great condition and mags are factory.
the '03 is actually harder to find than the '06 which seems to be good bit of LEO trade-ins available. can't recollect last I saw one here in classifieds. |
