Default Bodyguard .380 firing pin question

Taking a shot in the dark (ha) here, I read quite a few complaints about the firing pins breaking in the BG .380. I really like the pistol but the thought of a failure makes me wonder if mine will the day I ever "need" it. (hope that day never comes, but...)

So my question, is there anyone here that can direct me to someone who can make a good quality replacement that is far less prone to failure?

Or, can someone get me an extra pin and I'll talk to a machine shop about building some. In that case I'd need some info on material and heat treating as I have access to both of those.

The BG .380 would be in my opinion the perfect carry gun if this potential problem had never existed. I don't hear people complain about their LCPs or Kahrs having this issue. All the info I can get on this will help.

("Input") Ed, something like this for your own use might be considered (only your own hide at risk), but if you are planning on selling them, I don't think you could ever come close to making enough money to pay for the lawyers and insurance you would need. Doesn't sound like a real attractive project. If you don't trust S&W's expertise, maybe it's better to just buy another gun that you think is more reliable... ?

Looks like this is a continuing problem with the BG I got mine a week ago and after less than 100 rounds while I was cleaning it the firing pin broke off at the last 1/3 at the rear!
What gives they know its a problem for years and no fix yet! My serial #EBR3### so I am at the high end! And still the problem!

Default Bodyguard 380

Maybe someone will come out with a replacement aftermarket firing pin that will fix the breakage and failure to fire problems. The Bodyguard 380 is such a nice feeling gun to have internal problems.

I had a Ruger LCP and an LC9 before I traded them on a S&W M&P compact 9. One thing I will say for Ruger is that you can go to their website and get a parts breakdown on their pistols at any time and the parts are available from that point. From what I can see you have to purchase a parts CD from S&W? How easy it to find and purchase parts?
Thanks,
