Grip Mix Up Dilema
I ordered a curved 4506 grip from the factory...it was backordered for a week and arrived yesterday, only it's a 6906 grip. The plastic bag it was in had the correct part number written on it for a 4506 grip, but it was very obviously not for a 4506. I'm posting this because no one is answering the phone at S&W this morning. So anyway, should I get a 6906 now?

You not only should get a 6906, you MUST get a 6906. I am pretty sure that there is a forum rule mandating that you own a gun for any and every accessory in your possession. Once you touched that 6906 grip you were instantly obligated buy one. Though the rule does allow for any 6900 variant.

Then I'm screwed!
That means I have to get an L frame because I have a holster and speed loaders, since I have several sets of K frame grips, I'll have to get one for each set, not to mention all the J frame grips and speed loaders, and then there's the fact that the holster and speed loaders fit Ruger GP100's and SP101's I'll have to get those. Let's see now, there's also the Sig P220, 229,and 239 grips, at least two 1911 holsters, a couple Glock holsters, a spare 3913 factory grip, the original 10/22 stock, and a tactical stock for an 870. Oh, then there's the complete spare set of AR furniture.
I'm really hosed! Thanks for bringing that rule to my attention. Now I've got to tell the Wife. She's gonna be pissed.

The people working the parts department must not know much about 3rd gens. I ordered a RH magazine catch for a 4506 and received a left hand catch. I sent it back, and about two months later another incorrect catch arrived. Both times the correct part number was written on the baggie. I haven't sent the second one back yet, I might just call it a loss...

I talked to someone at S&W yesterday and he said "Yeah, they just pulled the wrong one. I'll make sure you get the right grip and don't worry about that 6906 grip...just keep it" That was yesterday. I got the new grip today which suprised me since I live in Alaska. Way to come through Smith & Wesson!
