Took it out yesterday for the first time and loved it. I compared it to my Walther PPS and Bersa BP9CC. I loved it. I added a Houge Handall Jr Grip. I would highly recommended.

I had issues with failures to eject but I had the same issues with my BP9CC on a particular box Winchester ammo. While firing my son could not get the slide to stay open on the last round everytime, then I noticed that he was laying his thumbs over the slide stop. He is 6'2" and has long fingers, he did not have issues with the PPS, as the PPS has a raised lip that helps isolate the slide stop. It would be great if S&W engenieering looks into this. The Shield its a keeper for me and will be buying another one for my other son. I read complaints about the trigger being grainy, the Bersa has a much better trigger but heck this is a defensive carry pistol and not a competition. from a 1-10 its a 9 for me.

Picked up my new one last Saturday and took it right to the range. That's right didn't even clean it. Put a box of 50 through it and it never failed. Shot a little left and low, but that could be me. Cleaned it when I got home then carried it in my Harley vest on a ride on Sunday. Packed excellent in the gun pocket in the leather vest. Could hardly even tell it was there. Better than the 380 I was carrying. Gonna love the pistol.

I can't believe you even asked that question, being as there are already about 500 reviews and comments about the Shield on this board.

Look in the M&P section of the forum and you will see the top 20 posts are about the Shield.
Literally hundreds of reviews.

Can you post pics, or give a general comparison to the BP9cc?

Thanks for the pic. I've got a shield, and really like it. I'm just waiting for my holster and night sights to come in, then it will be my regular CCW.

Listening to a competitive shooter, he said why night sights. If you cant see what you are shooting you should not shoot. HEHE So I ordered fiberoptic for the front and blacked out the rear sights for faster target acquisition.

I purchased a 9mm Shield a couple of weeks ago and have put about 150 rounds through it. I really like it so far. It is my only striker fired pistol.

Have been thinking of buying a Bersa BP9cc or Ruger LC9 but now I think maybe the Shield. Bersa has no manual Safety. LC9 I read has FTE problems.

I believe in waiting a year on a new gun model to get the bugs out. My first 1911 from S&W, (the big rollmark model) went back on a recall. My second 1911, (a commander model from S&W), went back twice. It kept going full auto. I eventually dumped them both. It's your choice.

Fercho64 i use night sights so i can find the gun in the dark. if it is on a night stand or table you dont have to feel for it or turn on a light. Love my shield have about 500 rounds through it now with no problems.

Typically I would totally agree. I did buy the Shield in the 9 and 40 because I felt the M&P had a proven platform. That doesn't guarantee there won't be any defects or flaws...but that's with any manufacturer/firearm...they all have their lemons. My colleague works for a Federal agency had a custom Sig made for him and other members of his team...10 total. 9 were returned within the month.

So far the Shield has had some great reviews and has performed flawless for me. Typically if any problems surface on any firearm they will usually surface within the first couple hundred rounds...but that's not always the case either.

Bottom line, I have total respect for anyone who wants to be cautious when buying a new firearm...your life may depend on it.
