I enjoy comparing guns from different eras to see the evolution and changes,
When compared to the early 5 digit 60's era 39 some slight differences stand out.
Your "Pats Pending" is further back on the slide instead of under the ejection port,
The slide stop catch notch has a very pronounced rounded shape inside at the top,
The 50's era large ampersand .
The machined portion on the front of your slide is shorter ending just ahead of the front of the frame,
The 60's era 39 slide cut meets the very front of the frame.
Your serial number font is slightly larger and more rounded,
Does not appear to have a dash between Model and 39 ?
Any chance you can post a picture of the Magazine?
Wondering if it is parkerized or polished?

That is a very nice and early model marked Mod 39 you have there. You found a great addition to any Model 39 or S&W collection. Enjoy your latest find.
