Default Direct Bolt On Reflex Sight?

I'm considering adding a reflex type sight to my S&W Model 41.

It is tapped but does not have a rail on it.

A friend told me that some reflex sights can be screwed directly on the pistol using the tapped holes where you would screw on a rail.

Is anyone familiar with this ?

Can you point me toward some sights that could be used this way?

Ideally the sight would have the red/green option and several reticle options.

You would need to attach a rail like this:

S&W M-41 SCOPE MOUNT | Brownells

A reflex such as the Browning:

Buck Mark Reflex Sight,, Browning Shooting Accessory Product

made for the .22 Buckmark, which has different reticles, but only comes in red is one of the less expensive sights of this type that works OK more or less (it's hard to get zeroed-too much slop in the windage and elevation screws-but once there it maintains it's zero.) With optics like this you get what you pay for. This type of sight is designed to clamp directly to a rail like the one above.

I think Jack Weigand also offers a similar set up to screw directly to the facory holes.
I don't think you'll find a sight that will use the factory spacing!
