Default 5906 Extractor

Do any of you fine folks out there know of anywhere that has replacement extractors in stock for the 5906? Can't seem to find one anywhere and I know they won't be getting any easier to find. Any help is appreciated as at least one is needed...

No luck at Brownells or Numrich.

This is a link to a S&W warranty shop in TX who lists as having parts. Don't know if he'll sell you an extractor but several people at my local range have had good luck dealing with and having repairs done by him. Phone # at bottom of page.

S&W typically restricts the sale of the 3rd gen extractors to armorers & gunsmiths because they generally require fitting, especially in the older guns made on older equipment to 'less precise & consistent' tolerances.

Fitting involves filing, and the use of a couple of gauges, a bar gauge ($70) & a force dial gauge ($150, for extractor spring tension).

They've been reducing the amount of many 3rd gen parts they keep in-stock (since the 3rd gen's have been discontinued for all but existing LE agency customers), which means many of the usual retail/wholesale sources for such parts may be experiencing difficulty in buying the parts from S&W. S&W is keeping a supply for factory repair, and for LE armorers, but they're seemingly becoming less available in the commercial market.

I've been told they still make periodic orders from their vendors for 3rd gen parts, but not as often. (Not as much need, I'm told. It's not like they're having a steady stream of 3rd gen's that need repairing, you know. ).
