Hi everyone. I just recieved a pachmeyr 22 conversion kit from the 80's for a model 39. There were no instructions. I thought it would be easy since I have units for many other pistols. Alas I was mistaken. I have a model 639 and was told there was no difference from the 39 as far as using this conversion. Would any one happen to have a set of instructions or advice?

Hi there, this is my first visit to this forum but ive been looking around the web for one of these hard to find pieces, if you wont be using it, may you consider selling it?
Regards!

I didnt know Pachmayer made a kit,
I have seen two german made kits,
The conversion kit makes sense in Germany where you cant own multiple guns as easily as here,
The kits cost nearly as much as a new M&P 22 and there is no garuntee of reliable function.
Give us a functionality report when you get it figured out.

From what I have hear, that kit is not a drop in kit. So you might need to get a smith and fit it for you.

There was one got sold on ebay last week. The final bit was just under $700 I believe.

Im pretty sure a member here had one for sale in the forum for $300 a few months back,
I was tempted but bought an M&P 22 instead.

I have an H&K 4 with a 22 kit that doesnt function very reliably and heard
some conversion kits in the 1911's are finicky.
While a conversion kit is a really neat idea they are usually not as reliable as a factory made gun and your putting wear
on your frame where you could buy a whole other gun.

This Pachmeyr Kit fits fine with a little care, on my 39-2 ans 639 and its a real tack driver too.

The Pachmayr kit is made by Peters Stahl of Germany. Pachmayr imported them in the 80's, but there are also some out there that are only labeled with the Peters Stahl information. I have a kit for the Hi Power, and a good friend of mine recently bought the 1911 Commander version. Along with the S&W, these are the three rarest of the conversions. I'm not sure how the S&W fits, but the 1911 has a set of shims that you use to adjust the barrel lug into the frame recess. It was a pain constantly taking it apart and putting it back together with different combinations of shims, but we finally got it lined up. My Hi Power kit pretty much popped right on, however the slide wouldn't cycle due the hammer rubbing against the underside of the slide. Luckily I had an extra hammer and once installed, it was a simple matter of filing the hammer down till the slide would clear it. The P-S design is very similar to the S&W Mod 41. I've found mine to be very reliable and accurate.

And looks awesome too !

I didnt mean to bash the kit just saying cost wise didnt work for me.

I would actually love to have a dedicated .22lr version of the Model 39.
