Was there a Two-Tone model 59?
Does anyone know if the model 59 was ever produced in a two-tone finish: blued slide over matte alloy frame? I checked the SCSW but it doesn't mention it. Thanks.

I've never seen one, but anything is possible with the factory, especially when it would have been so simple to construct one from existing parts. A factory letter would be mandatory to confirm it, however.

It used to not be uncommon to see semiautos like the M-39, -59 and Colt Commmander, which all have aluminum frames, of which had somebody polish off the colored anodizing from the frame, leaving the frame in it's natural color. That seems to have fallen out of fashion with newer, more durable coatings available.

Are you sure its aluminum and not nickel?
Someone could have been bored one night and swapped the uppers on a nickel and blue gun as well....

Serial Number A241520. Looks to be original finish. Btw, I mislabeled the pics, its a 59, not a 39

Looks to be as Buff mentioned above, the anodizing (blue or "nickel"/silver) has been taken off the frame; the appearance is now like a 6906 I used to own. You can still chance the factory letter if you like, however.

I agree it most likely began life with a black anodized finish that was removed.

I owned a gun shop when the 59 came out, and through the end of its production. They were available in either blue or nickel, no two-tones, and no "matte" finishes. Yours has either had the black anodizing on the frame removed or it was refinished with one of the faux stainless finishes popular in the '80s (the two-tone look was also popular then).
