Default Bodyguard Slide/Laser Screw Issue

I started having problems with the slide fully going back and the lock engaging after my last time at the range. Before consulting the almighty internet before going forward, I figured it just needed a good cleaning. So I go on with my cleaning, and everything seems ok. I insert my loaded magazine, rack the slide, round is now chambered. Well, guess what happened. The slide will not rack completely again and I cannot remove the round. What are my options other than going back to the range, and firing off the round? I'm certain that once the lead is gone, I can remove the casing. How much extra damage is this going to cause? Is this safe considering the state it is in right now?

Thanks in advance.

When that happened to me I was still at the range and they helped me out, but my laser screw was not loose, it was the ammo. Maybe a gunsmith can help you out with that. Someone else here should be able to give you the correct advice. This has happened to others.

I just discovered the culprit of my (slight) woes with the BG 380 as well... the Insight Laser screw housed below the barrel/recoil pin. I put about 100 rounds thru the gun before noticing that it was jamming up and being unable to rack as well. I had also run some Tullo steel case ammo through the gun (DON'T DO THAT IF YOU LIKE YOUR HANDGUN!!!). At any rate, I took it out this past weekend and was unable to load and shoot the last couple of rounds in the clip.

When attempting to break it down later, I could not pull the slide far enough back to latch the catch and keep it open in order to turn and pull out the assembly pin.

I finally thought to take a rag and put the corner of it in the chamber so the slide would not retract forward completely over the tip of the barrel. I had to do this in order to line the slide catch notch above the disassembly pin in order to turn it, pull it and disassemble the gun.

As soon as I pulled the slide/barrel assembly apart, I immediately noticed the laser housing screw was protruding about an 1/8" towards where the guide/recoil spring would be located when assembled. It had almost come completely unscrewed, I assume, from the vibration and rattle of firing the gun.

Using the extremely small hex driver (had to dig it out of the box), I tightened it down and re-assembled the gun. Works perfectly now.

The moral of the story, when field cleaning, best to check the status of the Insight laser housing screw to ensure it is seated properly below the path of the recoil spring.

may want to use a small amount of blue lock tight on the screw?
