Default Dry Firing Shield 9mm

Does it hurt the gun or firing mechanism to dry fire the Shield 9mm?

Being a centerfire gun, it should not, unless the owner's manual states otherwise.

It is no worse than regular firing.
Rimfires only risk peening the edge of the chamber.

Yes you can. The S&W website states the following under their frequently asked questions section:

Can I dry fire my S&W handgun?
Q: Can I dry fire my Smith & Wesson?

A: Yes, except for the .22 caliber pistols which includes models 22A, 22S, 422, 2206, 2214, 2213 and 41.

.22 caliber revolvers such as models 17, 43, 63, 317 and 617 also should not be dry fired.

Hope that answers yours and all others regarding dry firing.

Bob

I know I never dry fire my M&P 22. I think a centerfire is ok.

Lord I hope it's OK!!! If it isn't then I'm in a heap of trouble. I sit and dry fire mine over & over again while watching TV...especially when I watch the news & they start with the election stuff!!!! I dry fire at everybody that I think is lying. There aren't too many people on the news that I don't dry fire at. It makes for a full night of dry firing!!! Just saying...
