Default Welcome to Bullseye with an M52

I am a Bullseye shooter and just aquired a 52-2 for centerfire.
I went with the frame mounted BME mount with a 1" Ultradot.
I consider the Ultradots very good optics for Bullseye shooting.

We will see what happens with this combination in this upcoming season.

I know it does not answer your question, but am biased to good optics for 50 and 25 yard shooting.

What are you specifically wanting to do in Bullseye ?
Are you only shooting 25 yards ?
What other guns do you shoot and their optics if any for Bullseye.

Do not take my questions the wrong way.
I am here to help cause there are not to many of us BE shooters out there.

M19-5,

I shoot a Marvel U1, a Smith 41 and a few different 1911 wadguns all with UltraDots. I've always shot the 1911 45 wadgun for the centerfire matches.

I can't shoot open sights too well and I love my 52-2.

It seems the 52 would be more reliable with a light weight scope and mount.

John at BME indicated to me he had mounts for the Burris Fastfire III that fits the 52. I was hoping someone here had some experience with the new Fastfire on a 52.

Here's a couple pages of info from Jerry Keefer on loads for the 52 you might find useful:

Full Wadcutter stability?

I have a case of the Remington HBWC's and need to get some WST powder.

Clarence,

I just saw your 50 yd target - looks like you don't need any load info.

What load did you shoot that target with?

Have you found that BME frame mount keeps it's zero when you take it off to clean the gun?

Default Quick background of my 4 years of Bullseye.

Art;

For the .22 I shoot a Marvel unit one on a Springfield Milspec built by Dave Salyer with a 1" Ultradot.

Centerfire and .45 I use a Springfield .45 Milspec built by Dave Salyer.

My ball gun is a 92FS built by Dave Salyer.

I have always had trouble with the .45 so am going with the M52 for centerfire this coming season.
Will see how it works out.

Still looking for my Master card, been stuck in Expert class for almost 4 years now.

Earned my Distinguished Revolver badge #99 last year using a 6" Colt Python.

Back to your question.

In my honest opinion, more weight equals a better hold/ stability.
Therefor the frame mount and 1" Ultradot.

I never really got interested in those Pan type sights, last I read and used one, the parrallax is no good after about 20 yards, unless they improved upon them.
not to talk you out of what you want to try, but I know of noone using them for Bullseye competion.

During the Bullseye season, I shoot every other week along side of John Zurek and Steve Reiter.
they both use the proven tried and true sighting systems and their natural ability.
Amazing to watch, let alone score these shooters.

My load is, and still need to establish is:

Remington cases trimmed to 1.130"(no cannalure)
148 gr Rem. HBWC
1.170" cartridge overall length
.370" roll crimp
2.8 grains Bullseye powder
Winchester small pistol magnum primers
Inside primer pocket chamfer and flash hole
Inside mouth chamfer.

YMMV

Default Burris FastFire 3 on model 69 ...

Here is the FastFire on my .44:

I love the FastFire and it has held up to the significant recoil the model 69 produces with out losing zero. On you 52 I don't think it will be a problem.

I guess I'd be a Bullseye shooter with it if I was charged by a raging bull, or if a bad guy with a Raging Bull (Ruger or Tauris?) came at me while carrying my 69.
