burris fast fire on M&P 22
Anyone ever try to mount a burris fast fire or any other slide mount red dot on their M&P 22?

I bought a Burris Fastfire 3 with Picatinny/Weaver mount and it would not mount to my 22A. I called Burris and then told me that the Fastfire's do not work with all Weaver rails and that I would need to file down the mount where it fits into one of the Weaver slots but I didn't want to do that so I returned it. I acutally bought a C-More Railway red dot (8 MOA) and like it much better. It mounted just fine and works great. It appears to be easier to pick up the dot than the Fastfire, as the sight is bigger and more open. The Fastfire 3 had a really small window. I don't know if it would have been good for shooting steel, which is what I was looking for a red dot to do.

Real Weaver Rail On S&W 22A???
I just got a Burris Fastfire III and have the same problem. The cross member for the mount that should fit into the slot in the rail is too thick, so the sight rocks like a see saw. Impossible to use.
It's going back.
The question is, Does the 22A have a real Weaver rail or did S&W just decide to call it a Weaver rail because it looks kinda like one.

I used a round chainsaw file, wasn't difficult and didn't take but a few minutes. The mounts on mine are aluminum....easy filing without a need to refinsh when done.

I haven't mounted an optic, and I assumed the MP22 had a Picatinny rail like any AR-style rifle. Is it really a Weaver rail? If so, you'll need a true Weaver mount for a good fit. I'd be a little surprised if you can't find one, but you don't see a lot of Weaver mounts.
