Gun Show Finds Today
Went to a local gun show today and walked aimlessly through rows of stuff I don't care to look at, 3rd gen 10mm's pushing a grand, 45's not far behind, and a ton of over priced beat up nines, both second and third gen, then, there it was, a near pristine 39-2 in a guys case with a 475 dollar price on it.....asked to see it closer and the guy says he has the original box with papers, cleaning kit, and spare mag.....pulled out some cash and four hundred later it was mine, and to think I considered a 475 dollar 915 just an hour earlier....phew, glad I held out.....picked up a clean pair of 39 walnut grips for twenty and a sweet pair of J frame factory wood combats for sixty bucks.....what a great day at the gun show....

Wow, nice find! Down here it's the same stuff. Way-overpriced 10's and 45's...and stupidly overpriced "value-line" stuff. Oh well, I guess something's only worth what someone else'll pay for it lol. Meantime, I'll keep looking for the deals.

I'm jealous! All three would have been on my shopping list as well.

Believe it or not, I only saw three first gens, a nickle 39-2, decent shape with one mag and no box for 575, and a 59 that was pretty rough for 375......all the second and third gens were beat up and priced ridiculously, with the exception of the 915, which was LNIB, but still priced high I thought at 475.....I considered making an offer on it but found the dash 2 and got lucky.....it definately seems like the first and second gens are getting harder to come by, and especially at realistic prices.....

And too think at the last gun show I passed on THREE 59s!
This weekend I'm drinking three cups of coffee so I'm good and awake!
Beautiful 39 by the way! And a helluva deal too! Dale

Not really udchemist, I frequent most local shops and they just don't turn up that often anymore, never hurts to check around though, that's part of the fun......does that mean Dayton?

Nice score. When you started talking about those high priced 10's and 45's I coulda swore you were in Commiefornia Anything in good to pristine condition command huge money here. I saw one 1066 in near new condition with original box for 1300.00. Hell, beater Pythons get 1200 and up.

Congrats on a great gun at a superb price. I was there last week in Berea and in Niles this week. You are right about being very very patient at these shows. 95% of what is selling is overpriced or pretty beat up and sometimes both. I still go because just like you...I believe if we work at it we can find those little gems. There is power in the knowledge you get from being having an active part of this forum. You should bring to the NE Ohio Bunch meeting in October so we can drool over it. It's in N Olmstead at the Sportsman's Club on 10/6. You don't have to be part of the SWCA to come. I'll send more info my PM.
Mike

What is someone willing to pay for a new to pristine 3rd gen? I have a NIB 3913TSW with all paper work and while it is cool to see beaters go for 500-600, a NIB 3913tsw if made today would not be a 500 dollar gun. Condition is everything especially for older collectable rare hard to find guns.
As 10xxs get harder and harder to find especially in good condition as most other caliber 3rd gens smiths look for pristine models to keep bringing premium money while the beaters keep bringing within the 500+or- range.
