If, like me, you are a fan of the 39XX series pistols, you have probably experienced difficulty in finding a holster which is as "good" as the pistol itself. Yes, there are some fine holsters out there, a few specifically made for the 39XX series itself. BUT - do any of them really help conceal this fine pistol comfortably and securely? I have a box full that don't, as well as many that are just OK. Being left handed it is that much more difficult for me to find a "good" holster.
The "grandfather" of the 3913/3914 was the ASP pistol. For those that may not know the ASP was a chopped model 39 designed and produced by the late Paris Theodore. Mr Theodore had also designed excellent concealment holsters for the ASP pistol. These same holster designs are currently being made by Mr Ken Null in Georgia.
I stumbled into Mr Null quite by accident while calling a number I got off Gunbroker. Long story short, I recognized his name and discussed the holsters originally made by Seventrees - Mr Theodores original company - that Mr Null is currently producing. He owns the original slogan; "Unseen in the best places".
I had this conversation with Mr Null on a Thursday afternoon and placed an order for a black LH model "SSS" scabbard holster for a 3913. I recieved my holster the following Monday afternoon. VERY fast service.
The holster is an excellent design and a quality build. Having been raised in a family of NYPD and Nassau County police I am familiar with the original Seventrees holsters as well as other quality holsters from the 60's and 70's. I still own quite a few. This holster is every bit as well made. My ailing father examined it and though it was an original Seventrees holster.
It is an open top holster which is molded from a 3913. It fits my 3913 like a glove. Instructions for care and use were included, which suggested "...20 draws or so before using, which you are likely to do anyway.." The holstrer holds my Hogue grip equipped 3913 close to the body with the grip angled in. NOT uncomfortably into the ribs or kidney, but rather comfortably. My 3913 is easily concealed under an untucked T-shirt using this holster. I find it to be.....perfect....in every respect.
Mr Null has several different holster designs available including the original SMZ shoulder holster design alleged to have been used with the ASP as well.
Be advised that these quality holsters are not inexpensive. I paid $145 shipped to NC for mine. I will tell you that I am completely satisfied and think that it is worth every penny when compared to whats out there today. Plus I don't have a holster that was made for a Sig 239 or a Kahr or glock 19. Its a 3913 holster, identical to those made decades before in New York.
So, if like me, you are tired of searching for a good holster that complements the finest single stack 9mm made, by anyone, give Null holsters website a look. I'm not affiliated, just a VERY satisfied customer.
