Default 4006 tsw reduced loads / recoil spring

My wife purchased a nice 4006 TSW with laser and was dissapointed at the range hated trigger pull and recoil. I would like to know where to purchase lighter recoil spring or drop i kit for triger pull like I have seen for the M&P. I reload and wife and i have been shooting long time she fell in love with look of 4006 tsw and bought it never firing a .40. I loaded some light loads , medium loads and they did not function reliably. My full loads and factory loads she did not like. I just feel bad she is dissapointed in new gun and want to fix the problem. This will only be used for target shooting
thank you

I loaded some light loads for my wife, too, and she shot them out of my Ruger P944. I used 5.0 grains of Longshot behind a Rainier 180 grain plated bullet. I didn't chonograph them but I would guess they are somewhere around 850 - 900 fps and they are mild enough that she will shoot them. I haven't had any cycling problems, either.

What is your mild load recipe?

Default Wolff Gunsprings

Wolff carries a plethora of lighter springs for all S&W including the 4006. They come in a range of power from 3# lighter than stock to 6# heavier

If recoil forces are an issue for her with the .40 S&W cartridge, why not trade the 4006TSW for a 5906TSW? Same "look" she seems to "like", but with the milder recoiling 9mm cartridge.

The Performance Center still offers an action job for the 3rd gen guns, I believe.

Thank you for the information. I will try the lighter spring and have a trigger job done. We have 2 - 9mm ruger an hi point she wanted to add another caliber? I am going out today and shoot a 380 to se what she thinks you can never have too many guns
I really appreciate everyone taking the time to answer my questionMike

I think you'll find that recoil on most 380ACP, with their blowback action, light weight*** and short barrel, can easily have MORE recoil than that heavy 4006.

I have a Walther PPK/S and it has a LOT of recoil; more than most of my 9mm's have.

And the Walther PPK/S is a 'fairly heavy' 380 ACP pistol. Some, like the little Ruger LCP only weigh in at 10 to 15 ounces. Recoil can be very memorable with them.

IMHO, the 9mm makes a GREAT range gun. There are literally dozens (and more) to choose from, and ammunition, and reloading components are the cheapest of any centerfire round to reload.

I love shooting the 9mm, and I love all the neat pistols chambered for this old round.

I bought a 5906 with adjustable sights, and it's really a fun gun to shoot. The gun is all stainless steel, which tones down recoil, and the fully adjustable rear sights means you can dial he point of impact right where you want it. I really like that pistol.
