Default Performance Center Ultimate Four Pistols

I am downsizing my PC Semi-auto collection and need opinions on the ultimate four to keep. That does not mean that I will keep only these four but to ensure that I don't sell it. I am using the term "Ultimate Four" to determine the best pistol for each of the following categories: Bullseye, Practical/Duty, Home Defense, and Concealed Carry. So, please give me your opinion of the best one for each category. I will keep the tally updated in the original post. Thanks

Current Leaders thru Post #15

Bullseye-----------945 & PPC9 tied at (3) each

Practical/Duty-----45 CQB & IDPA 9 tied at (2) each

Home Defense----45 CQB (4)

Concealed Carry--Shorty 45 (3)

Caliber wise, the 45 ACP is way out front.

Keep them coming.

I only need two to cover those applications. A full size 945 and one of the compact 945's. I guess I am just partial to 45 cal.

Bullseye - PPC-9

Pract/duty/hd - two of whichever PC service size auto you want

CCW - a smaller version of the above, but I really want a J frame for a second pistol to the above daily carry pistols.

Talking

Bullseye = 945
Practical/Duty = 1911
Home Defense = CQB45
CCW = 3" 1911
...and they're all the same caliber for simplicity!

WOW, the darts are flying all over the board. My Excel spreadsheet looks like it was hit with a 12 gauge shot of #9 at 30 yards. Keep the choices coming. You can be specific within models/calibers by using barrel length or markings on the pistol such as PPC, CQB, Recon, SD, etc. No clear winners yet, but the overall current leader is the 945, followed by the CQB, 1911, 9 Recon and Shorty 45 in a close bunch.

What NO 10mm's, You had better confront S&W to make us a Performance Center 10mm to add to your collection and mine!

Good luck narrowing things down!

If I could get the PC to make one, I would. I made the request and it was rejected. I also tried to get Paul Liebenberg, the former head of the PC, to modify one to PC specs but it was not practical. A PC starts from scratch and incorporates the special features of the Briley bushing, front cocking serrations, PC slide to frame fit, match barrel, and tuned trigger. All machining is done prior to hardening the slide and frame.

When we are finished selecting the PC Semi-autos in this thread, then I plan to start a new thread to select the favorite 3rd Gen pistol for each category. I expect the 10MMs will be very popular in that one.

It all depends on what caliber you are interested in. If you like .40S&W, this one is a good option:

Add a Shorty 40 for CC and a M41 .22lr for target and you are set.
