Default Do You Recommend a 22A?

My wife has started going to the range with me, but she wears contacts and has difficulty with front sight focus.

I'm going to buy her a .22 plinker and mount one of my micro red dots on it.

Local pawnshop has a clean, 22A that appears to be like new.

Do you recommend them?

Anything about particular models I should watch out for?

I don't want her to have to deal with any issues apart from out-shooting me.

Now you have to understand where I am coming from here. I am a new owner of a 22a. I only have about 400 rounds through er but love the thing. Very accurate, easy to shoot and best of all easy to take down and clean without tools. The sights are not the best but I painted them white and it helps a lot. Fun gun to shoot and a great value. Don't tell Smith but I think she's a bit under priced. I got mine on sale for about 230. Would I buy another, heck yea. I love my MKlll and it is accurate but a little more involved to take down and a lot more expensive. So far it seems the 22a is just as accurate. Not a scientific measurement but it shoots as good as I do and it is reasonable to assume a lot better. No problem with shotgun shells at 25 yards off hand with the irons. Certainly moment of squirrel at 25 yards and beyond. I like it.

No question for a plinker. I shoot bulls eye at a local club. I shoot the Ruger MKlll. I really thing I may try the 22a. I think it's that accurate. Plinking should be a hoot. I believe, with my short exp with it, that if she can put the sights on the target the 22a will deliver the package.
All of my shooting was at 25 yards, rested and off hand, with Federal bulk from WalMart.

I agree with thumbs. Just look it over good before you buy. Production quality control can be spotty. I prefer CCI mini mags.
