5906 Accuracy....YIKES!
Hey Smithies, hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and wish everyone a great New Year. Thought I would share this with you, it was from last week at my local indoor range. I just finished re-springing this used 5906, as I do all my used S&W Gen guns, I use the Factory Service packs. This group is from 25', offhand, using Federal Champion 115g FMJ, and is a 15 round group. I must admit I am impressed and have to say this is the most accurate 9mm I have, I'm very happy and now must try this ammo with all my other Gens. Hope this clears up any questions on "those OLD S&W auto's", as some "poly boys" say, accuracy. Thanks for letting me share

Love it, i have the 5906's little brother 6906, some of the best 9s around IMHO.
What does respringing buy you? Mine is a virtually new safe queen that I was lucky to find. When should springs be changed?

I have a low round count 5906. My son gave it to me because of its weight. He got for being officer of the year at the dept he was at at that time. I have loaned to folks for CHL. With practice one could drive nails with it. CHL instructor wanted to buy it the las time I went. With a Galco on the belt holster and a god belt it carries good. Would hate to carry it on a long midnight shift.

Nice 25 yard group for any pistol. I had sweatshirts in the 60's with Rat Fink, as in your Avatar. My neighbor was an artist and surfer who did the art work. He made his own surf boards too!

His was shot from 25 feet, not yards. About 8 yards.

Funny thing about my 3rd gens...the more I shoot them the more accurate they get! I have only been shooting 3rd gens for a couple of years, but when I got my first one (a 6906) I have to say I wasn't happy with how I shot it. It wasn't a difficult trigger to learn but did require a little time...I now shoot them quite well and find them very accurate. It is a bit of fun to have someone not familiar with a hammer fired auto shoot my 6904...spray rounds all over the target...then say, "Not as accurate as my (insert fantastic plastic)!" I then reload it and put up a ragged hole group, watch the puzzled look on their face, shrug my shoulders and watch them turn red with embarrassment.
