Trying to make sense of SN's, DOB's, and trigger guards

Round trigger guards were produced first on second gens, briefly.....round trigger guards were produced later on third gens, that's probably whar CS was referring to...

Given above, I thought the letter sequence indicated production DOB.
Just talked with S&W CS - he said it did not - I'm not so sure.

Given the above they look in order but it does not. You will see many "T..." prefix TSW's produced well after "V..." prefixed standard models.

You could also be asking a CS rep about a gun older than they are.
The computers don't show trigger guard shape. To them the old ones could be square, the newer ones round.
The ancient ones were weird shaped and didn't even have checking on the front of them.
