I am new to this model and its varients. I have a question about the different models of rear sights. I know of the "eared type" on the 539 series and the adjustable model on most 39's in which it wasnt just a dovetail, but has an extended "tounge" similar to the revolvers. Is there any other types? Concerning the front sights, were there different heights for different rear sights? Thank again
First gens had only one front sight height, second gens had one for fixed sight models, and a taller front for factory "winged" adjustable rear sight models. There were a few aftermarket adjustable rear sights designed to fit the factory fixed sight models, as well as different height front sights, which required milling off the original front sight and staking on the new front, ala 1911....
