I'm so excite... I luf U S and A!!
I was trying to decide between 457 and a 4056 today. Ive been back twice to look at them and decided to buy today. While I was at the shop the guy asked me if I was in to 3rd gen Smiths and said he had a weird one that was coming off pawn today. He said the guy paid on it for 90 days then never showed back up. He brought out a pre-rail 4053TSW. I gave them $275 +tax. The slide should clean up nice and the internals look pristine. I brought her home and out 30 rounds through it. It grouped tight at 1" left of POA. I tried my 3913 to be sure and it was perfect. If it stays consistent I'll see if drifting the rear sight a tad will clear it up. Suggestions?

Thanks man. This one is unique in that they only made them in 1998. After that they had a rail.

I would think that would have to do with the DA only trigger pulls, SA is a lot easier to be more accurate with.

I'm hoping that's the case. I'm not adjusting anything until I can rule myself out as the culprit. It's funny, after shooting the DA on the 40 for a few mags I went back to my 3913 and accidentally double tap'd on the first shot.

I don't own any guns in .40 and don't really have a desire to, but I would have jumped on that deal in a second. The DAO's are easy to shoot well with a little practice. A tight group of 30 rounds just left of POA is pretty good shooting unless you were super close. (You didn't say what distance you were shooting at.)
Before you try to change your grip or trigger control, just go ahead and move that sight a little. If it puits you on target, no other worries!
