Performance Center S&W 5906 PPC
Saw one of these posted for sale (NIB) with an asking price of $2200... seems steep, but this is CA and these guys are often seen coming up for sale anyway.
Thoughts on the Performance Center S&W 5906 PPC with the 6 inch barrel? Worth taking a run at it at around that price if the seller doesn't want to go lower... just to have and enjoy such a rare animal? Or is that a "you got to be kidding" realm of a price?

That is too high.
Hook up with some PPC shooters that travels and start asking for one. you may get one that has some honest competition wear, but if taken care of....you should be able to get a good one at a considerbly lower price.

Thanks much... I know nothing about 5906 PPC, my initial gut reaction was that the asking price was high... sometimes it's difficult to judge with the way prices are in California for "off roster" handguns.

I paid $1500 for my 5 inch PPC9 about a year ago. It was very close to NIB and could probably have passed as such.
I have seen far fewer 6 inch PPC9s. Given your geographical location and condition of the pistol it is definitely a seller’s market and my guess is it will sell for very close to that price.
I can’t say enough positive things about the PPC9. Incredible performance and perfectly fitted. It is absolutely a sub 1 inch gun at 25M.
I now have several thousand rounds thru mine. It still shows no wear on the moving bits and I’m sure it will still be shooting long after I’m long gone, even as much as I use the pistol.
Price out what a custom pistol costs these days that the builder will guarantee to shoot to this level of accuracy. Even at $2200 it is still probably a good value.
If you want to get an equivalent S&W pistol and can’t find a PPC9 look for a 3566 Limited. I bought one of these and then immediately purchased another. Yes it is chambered in .356 TSW but S&W will rebarrel one for about $250. The last one I purchased was NIB for $1250, so with the rebarrel, just about what I paid for the PPC9. Trigger is fully adjustable for take up and overtravel just like the PPC but ever so slightly heavier which makes sense given its intended usage. Other than the sights and finish I can’t discern a single difference between the two models, accuracy included. Someone else will probably chime in if there are additional differences. I actually like the sights on the 3566 a bit more for casual plinking than the PPC sights.
