Default 39-2 Extractor Spring

I'm looking to replace my extractor spring on my '75 39-2.

After searching I found a post mentioning that the pin that holds the extractor can only be removed from the slide in one direction...

It sounds like I push it from the top of the slide through to the bottom side of the slide?

Can someone please verify this for me before I go at?

Many thanks - Glen

That is the best way to remove the pin. Doing so prevents problems with the aperature and the pin.
Suggest frankly a new pin rather than reusing the old one if at all possible.
( I Have a pre-39 four digit as well as a 39-2)

Thanks a lot!

Just so I understand - the pivot pin hole in the slide must be tapered?

GLK, I believe that is the case, always drive the pin out from the top, and reinstall from the bottom, being careful to drive the pin back in so it's at least flush with the rail on the slide (or slightly recessed is better). If you do it backwards you run the risk of damaging the slide hole, and the extractor pin will not stay in place......ALWAYS out through the bottom, and back in from the bottom.....
