I have had my 6906 about as long as any of my 3rd gens. The 6904 is one of the best bargains I ever found. Its almost NIB, the original owner lost the mag and sold it to me very, very reasonable with box and paperwork.

I wish I could figure out how to upload pics so I could play too!
I tried the PhotoBucket thing & I couldn't get that to work, I tried
using the "Go Advanced" tab & every time the upload fails.

Update:Finally figured it out! Here is my Model 6906.

Your picture files are probably too large, try reducing them to 75% using photo editor or similar......

Here is mine. This belonged to a Captain at the nearby state college. It came with box, papers, duty holster, and three 12 round magazines. Apparently he only shot it at qualification time. I changed the grips, but kept the factory grips.

I am in love with the above 6906, heres mine , just got it ironically on my birthday. This was the dirtiest gun I have ever seen, grips had never been removed, pin was rusted had to be knocked out with a hammer. The next shot would have killed the shooter, barrel required a lot of bore cleaner. But its coming around, got some dings on the alloy, that I don't know what to do about. Any suggestions? Stainless will look good after more elbow grease.

Mother mag polish, with a carnuba wax coating, wanted to keep the satin looking finish. Will go to the range next week, the sights a little small for older eyes, might do something about that. Wolf spring kit due in today, but despite the crud the action seems to cycle snap caps ok. Good pencil shooter.

War_eagle. I used Mothers mag and alum. polish I did a complete breakdown as to not damage the frame any further than my holster has already. I polished all the touch components and the barrel with a dremmel and hand polished the slide one go round to give it a little brighter appearance without taking away from the matte too much. The curves under the muzzle got hit with the dremmel to as well as the edge around the front of the muzzle.

Losingle. I'm not sure about the frame. Mine has some damage but I don't want to do any polishing because of the coating. I may end up taking it to coal creek armory down the road and have them refinish it to original maybe even a custom color for around $130

It looks like a enamel baked on finish on aluminum. I can live with a couple of tiny dings, might experiment with some touch up to see if can match it. I have bout 450.00 with 2 extra mags. Intended it for a shooter, got enuf pristine stuff. I get the shakes around dremels, finger has notch in it.

Losingle. I'm the same with the dremmel. Only used it on the barrel and muzzle edges. My dings are around the trigger guard where my holster lock clips around it.

As for the NIB post I wish mine was new again I've had mine since I was 17 so almost 10 years. I used it as my military sidearm too after the command approved it. The army bought me about 5 mags a few years ago so that was a score.

I'm looking for an extended barrel maybe an additional 1/4 inch. If anyone knows of any that would be great as of now I have the barrel at an old tool and die makers house so he can measure and throw me an estimate.

Default DA/SA not much interest these days

As I've focused on DAO models of late, the DA/SA models have gone away over time, but still have this unique long slide M6906.

Here's mine. Previous owner was a captain with one of the local state colleges. The only time he ever fired it was qualifications. Three magazines, box, papers. Oh, and a Safariland 070 holster that I have no use for.

I don't carry it that much because I have a couple of compact 3rd generation guns, but I like how it feels in my hand with the Hogue grips.

SmithNut....I have an all steel "6906" PC SD9 with a 4.25 inch barrel....great gun........... yours looks like a 5 inch barrel....... what's the story on it?

Once I found out how few were made (<200 I've read) my PC 6906 went into the safe........................

Always though an alloy frame w/ a 4.25- 4.5 inch barrel; matched with IWB holster and extra 15 round mag (with the "spacer") would be a good carry gun combo.....

Here's my 6906 with an extra slide from a 5904. Both slides function perfectly. The longer slide makes for a very well balanced package. Combined with an IWB holster from Lobo Gun Leather, this is one of my primary carry guns.

Bam-Bam,
That is a custom gun I purchased from a member of the forum a few years back. He had made several unique configs as he had access to NOS slides and parts from S&W, so when he posted a pic of this gun I had to have it. I had him exchange the ambi safety for single side, but other than that it's the way he made it. Neat custom, not factory, but neat nonetheless.

As for the PGS grip adapter, yes that is a good alternative to the compact mags if you have big hands or a mission that calls for 15 rounds.

For those not familiar what we are discussing, here's a few pics of the PGS grip adapter with a M6946:

The Stocking Dealer autos were very special... I'd say the total production of any of the SD guns were closer to 100 each from what I've heard........
