In the 80's S&W was going to make a .45/10mm conversion gun. The thought was to be able to take a 4506 swap out the slide, barrel and magazine with a 1006 and you could shoot 10mm. Pretty neat huh? Well they made ten 10mm slides and we tested them and they worked fine. Fortunately they decided not to produce the guns for liability reasons. It was a lot of fun to shoot.

Well in the end they did a damn good job with the 10xx series as they are some of the best 10mm pistols ever made. Accurate, strong, robust and reliable functioning semiautos in the potent ballistic cartridge!
Now if they could only do the same and produce an M&P 10mm...Yea!
