I need you assistance. I have looking for a particular edition that you can find at the below link. It is two tone with Blake on all rounds on slide and frame with flats polished bare stainless. The cocking serrations are the wavy form, not inverted scales. I really need to find the REAL SKU for the pistol. The one in the link has a serisl# BAMXXXX. I saw a pic of another specimen with SN# BAM0083,

I this SKU is easily the finest example of engineering and mechanical artistry ever made. So please help me find its true SKU.

I emailed S&W it is a 170227 made in 2003. I have responded asking if they would provide the number made and the serial number range. I will post their answer when it arrives.

I also found a 2009 S&W catalog document identifying a 2009 made 170300 as the same gun.here is the link

Curious as to why you want the SKU, how will it help? I doubt the gun will ever be made again or that one is sitting around on some dealers shelf. Am I missing something? You just need to keep a close eye on all the sale/auction sites, may take months or years.

I have the 170300, it has the fishscale serrations which is the way I like it. Had a chance to get the wavy model and passed, they did offer it in just silver finish also. I believe there was a earlier two-tone fishscale run maybe a no-dash version but it would probably have a different sku# also. I would guess no more than 500 of the wavy two-tones, good luck with your search.

Jag22. You would be surprised at what you can stumble up on if you know what to search for. I just bought a 945-1 SKU 170173, all stainless polished flats like the current model less the slide slots for an even 1000. I have another just like it that I paid 1850 for. Just could not pass at that price. QWhat isn't out there today may be tomorrow.

LOL....I am mucho glad that I was outbid. This is my 20th day in the hospital. Doing well now but was pretty near gone. I bid that via iPad while heavily narc'd up! I do not even remember bidding. A few days later I pulled up mygunbroker and about had a heart attack!

Jeez, I'm tempted not to admit it was me, but when I saw that sucker on GB I fell stone in love on the spot, and worth every penny. And I agree, who cares what the SKU is?

Still don't understand what you are doing, are you doing a google search for a sku as opposed to S&W 945? I don't think I've ever seen a sku listed on any auction or sale site. Can you explain further please.

Jag22' do a search on 170300. You will pull up many. The GB that is spoken of was listed as a 170173 even though it isn't. Search 170173 and this on and others will come up. The more different ways you can search something the greater the opportunity of finding it. Besides, I am laid up in the hospital and have too much time on my hands. I am learning about PC guns and asking questions. Not sure what your concern is but best wishes.

I'll have to try getting all doped up before bidding next time! Maybe that explains the guy who outbid me on Grinder's PC 5906 PPC 6" by going to $4,000!

You don't need to waste any money to get doped up. If you have the PC addiction, your body automatically kicks in a special blend of adrenaline at the first sight of a model you don't have. It numbs all of your common sense and launches you on a bidding mission. The worst fear is that you will be outbid. I have been there, done that. The only bids I have regretted are the ones that I stopped bidding on. I have been buying PC pistols since 1993. I tried to downsize my collection in 2011 but seem find and buy another model every time I sell one. If you have the PC addiction, you have a select group of friends.

Sig, I had no concerns, just wasn't sure what you were doing or why. I tried it and got some matches but seems the model # worked better. Anyway, glad I learned something new. I have a C&R so most of what I buy is pretty old, before they had SKUs so I never thought using them in a search. Hope you get well and can go home soon.

Jag, I use the model numbers too, but recently found a nugget on an obscure site on probably page 20 of the search results. Interestingly it was a guy who acted as bonded storage facility for guns picked up by police. It relieved the PD of risk. He charged the storage fee to the owner and if they didn't pay he sold them in his gun store and online. I just mine the Internet in every way that I can. As I said. Too much time on my hands.

That was a 945-1 in 98% for $1000.

I find 13 different Variants / SKU's for 945s in the Standard Catalog 3rd Edition published January 2007. I have gone through S&W catalogs for years 2007-2013 for models since then and there are few new ones.

I am accumulating pics, characteristics of variants, serial numbers, etc. My end goal is to assemble a document detailing each of the variants with pictures, all characteristics, SN range of production, SKU number etc. and will post that on these forums for everyone's use.

Once I gather and collate as much info as I can I will engage Roy Jinks, S&w's historian to validate and fill in the blanks of the study.

Here is where you come in. I would ask that you provide me with the data from your collection including the serial number less the last digit, and characteristics. Pics would be nice but I can probably find most of them online and save you that time. If you know the SKU number, all the better.

A description might look like this: 5", all black except that all flats on slide and frame are polished bare stainless, scale serrations front and back of slide, is NOT a bill board model, post front and adj rear sights, serial number RSA365x. Has SKU 170300 on the original box. If it has a fired shell casing with the test date Xx.xx.xxxx on it. Dark brown laminated grips.

I would think that the resulting catalogue would be of great value to those of us captivated with the 945s. I shouldn't take a whole lot of time for you to gather the info. I have a lot of time to put into this now while hospitalized with 7-14 days left to depending on test results. So I have no issue putting 40-80 hours into the effort.

Everyone please be very careful when looking for expensive / rare models on the web. I just did a search on Arms List dot com and found my gun (see post #13 above) listed for sale using the photos the seller copied from the original GB auction. I reported it to Arms List, but beware there are lots more scams like this out there.

A couple ways to verify Arms List. First, look at the user's profile and see if he has or had a number of posts listing different locations, states, etc. I discovered one that way when he did not reply to my request for another pic of a close up of the front of the trigger. That is the second way.

Arms List is known internationally and has a relatively high fraud rate.
