Default Complete catalog of M945 PC Variants

Want one? Cool, help me build it by providing the information from your 945's. i will put the hours into researching and collating your data as well as the bunch Ih ave gleaned from the net and from other members. and when done i will post it on the forum and will be happy to email you a complete document. Sound good?

I find 13 different Variants / SKU's for 945s in the Standard Catalog 3rd Edition published January 2007. I have gone through S&W catalogs for years 2007-2013 for models since then and there are several new ones.

Once I gather and collate as much info as I can I will engage Roy Jinks, S&W's historian to validate and fill in the blanks of the study.

I would ask that you provide me with the data from your collection including the serial number less the last digit if you wish though it will not be published, and characteristics. Pics would be nice but I can probably find most of them online and save you that time if you wish. i can always come back to you if i need to. If you know the SKU number, all the better. Your serial numbers will only be used to confer with S&W to validate what your gun is by their production data and will never be published. Any pictures will be doctored to hide the last two digits of your guns SN.

A good description might look like this: 5", all black except that all flats on slide and frame are polished bare stainless, scale serrations on bothfront and back of slide, is NOT a bill board model, post front and adj rear sights, serial number RSA365x. Has SKU 170300 on the original box. If it has a fired shell casing with the test date Xx.xx.xxxx on it. Dark brown laminated grips.

I would think that the resulting catalogue would be of great value to those of us captivated with the 945s. I shouldn't take a whole lot of time for you to gather the info. I have a lot of time to put into this now while hospitalized with 7-14 days left depending on test results. So I have no issue putting 40-80 hours into the effort.

If you want to participate send me a PM. You can either send me a PM with the data or send it to my email address which is sig.natures@yahoo.com. if you send me an initial email i will return my full contact info.

Make sure the collectors that you know are aware of this effort and encourage their participation. i look forward to hearing from you very soon!!!

Steve

Good idea Steve, I'm in. I'll get all my info together in the next day or so and post it here as well as send it to you. I believe I have eleven variations all together, but for now, here's a 'dash-1' 4" model, all stainless with straight serrations. I also have the 'no-dash' 4" model, all stainless, but with fish scale serrations.

The product codes are tough to nail down, because all of mine came in the aluminum PC case, which doesn't have the I.D. label unless you also have the original shipping carton, which is very rare to find. I've had to rely on the SCSW, which doesn't show all versions.

Bill

S&W customer service should be able to give you the SKU# off of the guns serial number, they sometimes refer to it as the product code.

Have had two gents send long lists of the content of their stable and have fully researched the earliest two product numbers 170104 and 170152, at least to the level required for this purpose other than serial number ranges. I would hope to get that from Smith.

Thanks to those that have taken a few minutes to jot their info down and I hope to see yours soon. If you can't do it in two lines per gun you are working too hard.

945 no dash, 5", bead blasted SS, slide and frame flats polished SS. BoMar rear sight, s/n ABC12xx, made 1999, think prod code 170104.

That is all unless you have some other key info that you feel Germaine. Pics of both sides optional.

Your participation is appreciated

Steve. sig.natures@yahoo.co.

Absolutely! I have collected a ton of information, including and especially these and collating it all into a cross referenced spreadsheet and a pictorial catalogue with narrative. I have talked with a couple of people about proofing / addition. I would appreciate your review. My only plans are to make the information to members. It has certainly helped keep me occupied while tethered to this hospital bed. I have also found a number of soft copies of annual catalogs that I will share as well.

Thanks again, Steve

I read about that particular model (squared trigger guard) in a gun mag with pics many moons ago, but have never seen one posted here or in person.

Grinder probably has it hidden in the bread box

I had the Wave Model (dash 1) and the firing pin safety timing was off. My safety plunger was all chewed up but it never had a misfire.
