Question 422 & 2206 pistols Need some info.

Just recently acquired a S&W 2206 4" , 2206 6" and 422 6" target. I'm not too familar with these (had one when I was a kid) Are the stainless and aluminum cast ? I paid $750 for all three with 15 magazines. The 4" was used maybe 98% the other two six inch looked liked they have never been fired. Did I get a fair deal ? Any info on these would be appreciated.
Thanks !!0409131814.jpg Sorry cell phone pic ;(

I'd say you got a very good deal. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them off of you for that price, especially with all of those magazines.

The 422 would typically go for between $225-$300 I'd say, but in unfired or nearly such condition, and a "target" model to boot...I'd say it'd be at the high end of that, perhaps even more. The 2206s usually bring around $275-$350...but the 4" may be a bit less common, perhaps worth a bit more.

I'm quoting the prices I've seen in my area. Other parts of the country may vary, obviously. Also, prices usually include only 1 or 2 mags per pistol. You didn't mention boxes...certainly having the original box adds to the value, probably $20-$50 per pistol. I'm not sure what a fair price for extra mags would be, but I'd say your 9 "extra" mags (over the standard 2 per pistol) should be worth at least $15-$25 each...which really puts the icing on your purchase, I'd say.

Color me jealous.

Tim

I did forget to mention that they all had original boxes, manual, & little orange take down plug. Does anyone know if the frames are cast or not ?

You got a good deal with all the items you got in the purchase, I have a 422 and love it. Not certain about the frames though. If you got the ammo for them have fun.

The 2206's are all stainless steel, while the 422's and 622's are alloy and steel.

I bought a 4" 2206 when they came out in the early 90's, 1000's of rounds down the pipe and still running strong. Great practice gun for the 3rd generation centerfire pistols.

By the way, you STOLE those three at that price. The 2206's have been selling for $500-600 each on Gunbroker in recent months.

Well for all the times I lost my pants on trades, it's nice to come out on top for a change. They are in my opinion the most underrated .22lr pistols. So much better than 90% of ones offered today. I've had them for about 6 months & still can't pick my favorite of the three.

Warpath, you made one great buy there.
Look them up on Gunbroker yourself. Easily over 1200 value on those three with the original serial numbered boxes. Mags conservatively 25-30 each. Outstanding deal.

Technically there were no "target" models except the 2206TGT. The others with adjustable sights were often inaccurately called a target model, but the factory only designated the one 2206TGT as a target pistol. It had special grips, Millet adj sights in place of the factory adj sights and a few other minor differences.
By the way, those wood grips were an upgrade from the standard black plastic grips.

In the current market you would likely double your money. The two 2206's with the wood grips sold as a set might even demand a premium above what either would sell for separately.

Very well done. Congrats.

And don't dry fire those! Firing pins are not available from the factory any longer and they have been known to shatter when dry firing. EWK has made some replacements that have had good reviews.

Good score on all three for $750, especially with the extra mags.
I just saw some used 12 rounders for those today at a local gun shop, they were asking $75 a piece for them!
I myself have a model 2214 and a 622VR (vent rib, made in 1997 only).
The 2214 takes a shorter magazine, but the 622 mags work in it, as well as my model 41.

You have a 622VR???? Man I'd like to handle one of those to see it up close. I love the looks of those. Good find.
A 622vr and a 41 is kinda over the top. You should sell me the VR.

Very nice deal you made there. I would pay that for just one NIB 2206 if I could ever find one. Seems like nobody wants to get ride of them.

Nice find! The mags alone would sell for half that cost. I have a 622 that I bought in 1993 and it has never let me down, even with a suppressor these last few years. I picked up a used 422 a few years back that has also been 100% reliable and accurate.

I picked up a nice 2206 last month for $349. I had one 20+ years ago. I ordered 4 mags from Midway, threaded muzzle adapter amd firing pin from EWK. Great gun, accurate!
