Default Bodyguard light firing pin

Hi all,
My Bodyguard was acting odd today. Multiple trigger pulls needs to fire a round. I plan on breaking it down to look at the firing pin. The firing pin is hitting the primer. However, it didn't appear to be hitting it hard enough. Any thoughts? Send it back to S&W?

The most common cause for that is somebody trying to lighten the trigger pull by messing with the mainspring.

Was it a new box of ammo? Maybe you got a batch with harder primers?

Thanks guys. Yes, new ammo. Not sure of the brand...buddy purchased. Not reloads. And everthing internal is factory set. I'm the original owner and never played with the mainspring or anything internal.

I'm going to call S&W on Monday to send it off.

My first box of ammo through my new BG 380 was PMC Bronze FMJ. I had a number of light strikes--like maybe 3 or 4. I have not had any light strikes since, but I also have not tried any more PMC in it. So I don't know if it was pistol break-in or the kind of ammo or maybe a batch of PMC with harder than usual primers.

So I would consider:

How much ammo have you put through this gun? If this is the first box or two, then I'd say you should shoot it some more and see if it is a break-in issue.

Have you shot other brands of ammo? It could be that the brand you shot is not a good match for the BG.

Have you tried a different box of ammo? It could be that you had a batch with harder than usual primers.

One good thing: The BG 380 has second strike capability. If it does not fire on the first pull of the trigger, just pull it again.

Thanks all! I'll check on the brand of ammo. I'm the original owner with less than 500 rounds fired through it.

Never one issue until yesterday.
