Default BG 380 stiff safety lever

Anybody else had problems with their manual safety lever?

Mine is too hard for my wife to work on and off.

It will darn near peel the skin off our fingers trying to work it.

Am I going to have to send it back to S&W for a fix?

The safety will loosen up with use. Perhaps you can work it back and forth for her (while watching tv or something)...unloaded of course.
I've had mine for a several months now and put a few hundred rounds through it. The safefy has loosened up nicely, but it's not a problem for me because I don't use it. The long trigger is sufficient safety for me.

10-4. This gun will never AD. Maybe if you threw it up in some tree branches it would snag the trigger . Other than that activity, I wouldn't use the safety.

Thanks very much for your responses gents. I agree; seems the manual safety is redundant. I'll just not worry about it. There's just no way to snag that trigger.

Like already stated, I don't use the safety on my BG, but the few times I've flipped it on or off, it worked fine.

Texas Roots, I do use my safety. I always have my Bg380 chambered and I use my safety like a 1911, just use to flipping it down with my thumb when pulling it. It would irritate the fire out of me if I could not fix it myself I would send it back and have S&W fix it. Usually I can do my own repairs so I could probably figure it out but that;s just me. I would contact S&W and see what they say. I can hold mine in my right hand only using my thumb flip mine off and back on with just a little effort, nice and crisp. No you probably will never have to worry about the trigger snagging but it is just normal for me to use the safety like my 1911's

My wife has one and as near as I can tell the firing pin is not against the primer when the hammer is down. The trigger cocks the hammer the same as a DA revolver so the gun is always uncocked. My wife always uses the safety but I don't think not using the safety makes it any more unsafe than a DA revolver. If I am wrong I will be glad to hear it. Larry

Thanks for all your thoughtful responses gents. I took the gun apart and found the "V" spring that bears against the safety lever was much too stiff causing the problem. I gently bent the "V" just a bit so there would be a little less pressure on the manual safety lever. That's all I did and now the safety works perfectly.
