A box for my spare model 41 barrels
My model 41 came with a 7.375 inch barrel and I decided I needed to try some of the different barrels that are available for this pistol. The only problem is what to do with the extra barrels when they are not on the pistol as I did not want them rattling around in my safe. I made this box out of some scrap walnut. I am going to order some of the anti rust paper and wrap the barrels in this before I store them in the box.

Nice,
I like that. I have a second barrel for mine and working to buy the 5.5" also. Something like this is great.

Pistol barrel storage
I just wipe mine down with a light film of oil, and wrap them in bubble wrap, then store them in a regular pistol case with the soft foam padding. You can get quite a few of them in there. Also I have seen Zippered cases that fit just a scoped pistol barrel. You might even check with bore store cases. Just looked and they do have cases for Thompson Pistol barrels, and also have cases for Knives, which would work just fine for barrels. I would not want mine in a box, nor my pistol in a box, unless it's a shooter.

Smithfans solutions are much more practical. I think using skinny socks and then putting them in a pistol rug would be good as well. I figure if I get hit by a bus and my wife is going through the safe she might think the barrels have some value if they are in a nice box

Thanks H Richard. Making things out of wood is spouse approved and keeps me out of serious trouble. As long as I keep my fingers I am happy. I should learn to make grips and checker.

I just bought a soft case big enough for the gun with the 7" barrel mounted that also had a large side pocket that I keep the 5.5 barrel in.

Here is case I got for my extra 41 barrel (5 1/2"HB). It is a travel case for an electric tooth brush that I got on Ebay. Cut up a foam kneeling pad for the liner.

72AV8R I like that case. Looks like a very good idea for taking the barrel to the range in a range box. Just a word to the wise for long term storage foam sometimes rots so if your going to stick the foam case in the back of a safe and forget about it you can have trouble.

Thanks for the heads up on storage. This case is only temporary or for range use as you suggest. I am working on a presentation case for the 41, both barrels and magazines. I will post pictures if I ever finish it.

I use this square plastic tubing where one half slides into the other half. Can’t find where to buy them, probably somewhere like uline. Clark Custom ships in them. Here is an example QuadroPack: Plastic Packaging Tubes – rose plastic
I’ve also got some stored in this plastic webing. It makes a mesh tube that fits snuggly on the barrel.
I like the boxes because they stack.

If you buy a nice case and a foam kit, you could do something like this too.
