My new E-Series 1911 CT
Reliable, accurate and a heck of a lot of high end features at a very reasonable (under $1K) price.

Great score. Mine has been 100% reliable while being scary accurate. Best of luck and enjoy your new toy.

I bought an E-Series 1911 today. Paid $830 (898 out the door). I have high hopes for it. I have noticed that there is no distinct click when the thumb safety is engaged up/on. It click when being taken off/down from safe tho. Very odd...Anyone else's display this characteristic?

The checkering on the front strap looks might aggressive. Does it eat-up your fingers with a lot of shooting?

Depends on what you call "a lot". The most I've put through mine in one session was 200 rds. I didn't find it too abrasive - my hands didn't feel it afterwards any more than with any other gun I'd shot that many rounds through. Maybe less, because I didn't need to hold so hard. That checkering definitely gives you grip, but it's really not that sharp. It does what it was designed to do.

That is exactly how mine is. I've read that it is typical of S&W 1911's especially in the E-Series. It feels more broken in now, and goes into the up safe position easily, but no "snik" click like when putting it in the down position. As long as it goes up easily and functions I'm leaving it alone.

I've put 250 through in one session and I don't notice it other than improving grip. It is 20 LPI checkering and not "sharp points".

Thanks for the reply. I have not shot my E-Series yet, but I plan on getting her hot on Tuesday
