I recently purchased a 4506-1 with it's standard barrel and a bar-sto barrel chambered in .40 super. This gun also has the menck recoil dissipating guide rod. I was told this firearm was featured in the July 2000 issue of gun world magazine in an article about 40 super. In general I would like to know more about 4506's chambered/modified for .40 and .45 super. I have a pretty good knowledge of how those cartridges were developed but I am having some issues finding solid reloading data. Right now I have 3 main questions about this guns setup.
1. Does anyone out there have the July 2000 gun world issue? I would like to either purchase it or just get a scanned copy of the article to verify this gun was in the magazine.
2. I need some spring replacement and tuning info on the menck recoil guide rod. The main recoil spring is not the standard length spring for that gun. It is more similar to a 4566 recoil spring length. I will probably start experimenting with different 4566 springs but I was just looking for a starting point. I do not have a stock guide rod yet but I am trying to obtain one. Does anyone have one for sale?
3. Does anyone else run or ran a similar setup in the past?
I am really excited about unlocking the potential of this platform and I greatly appreciate any input someone has to offer. Thanks, 3rdgenman
