Model 39ss that I fell in love with!
I had the pleasure of putting on layaway today a model 39ss and it was amazing! The stainless steel frame was made by bii and was built with model 39 components supplied to them from smith and wesson. It has the barrel bushing, with a 1911 beaver tail style grip, 1911 styled trigger guard and trigger, and the trigger pull is like glass in da or sa. I just couldn't resist this little 4" gem! The two toning is beautiful. It really is too bad the bii only made 200 of these before they were shut down by the batt as this really is the perfect cross between the best of both a 1911 and a smith and wesson!

Thank you for the response. I just hope it shoots as good as it felt. It was in the ownership of a retired but well known gunsmith here in phoenix so I can't wAit to see what he was able to do with it while he owned it!

I have one of those S&W/BII put togethers. Mine has the internals and slide from a Model 59. If you go to the "Post Pics of Your Smith Autos" post #690 you can find a picture of mine posted there. It has an MMC adjustable rear sight and an after market set of wood grip panels. It functions flawlessly and is very very accurate. The extra weight of the SS frame makes the 9mm's recoil very easy to tame.
Have you taken yours out to the range yet?

I'm surprised that grips are hard to find. One other thing... I really doubt that S&W was willingly providing parts sets to BII!
