I have just recently bought a used model 5906. I'm having trouble with the slide pin . The button to push out the slide pin doesn't push it out far enough to pull out . any word of wisdom or do I need to send it back to Smith & Wesson and let them fix the problem .

The gen 3,s can get a bit tricky if you're new to them. You have to hold the slide back in just the right spot for the slide release to come out . Even then it may be hard. I use either the plastic bottom of a mag , or an end of a sharpie ( to protect the finish) to push it all the way out so you can remove it. Once you figure out the "sweet spot" for slide location it will be easy.
