Default Smith and Wesson Model 745 IPSC

Hello! I would like for someone to shed light on the Smith 745. I know it was on 5000 made with the 22Kt gold IPSC marking on them. i have had this gun every since I was 19 Yrs old. I would really like for someone to tell me if this gun is a collectors piece or if its a shooter. Im thinking about trading or selling it. Its in about 95% condition. Thanks Jeff!

Hello LA Trooper,
Nice pistol. I owned one for several years and really enjoyed it. Like a lot of pistols I eventually sold it for something else.
According to the Standard Catalog of S&W, 3rd Edition an as new in box specimen is valued at $685, Excellent condition $500, and Very Good condition $450. These prices are a few years old, and way before prices went through the roof as of late. These models don't seem to pop up very frequently up here and IMHO they are off collector's radar, just like the Model 46, but there is one Model 745 for sale locally for $750. Tough decision, as your chances of finding another might be challenging.

I have a few 745s. They were good pistols. I used to shoot my standard 745 and I keep my IPSC 745 unfired since leaving the factory. These days I shoot my 845 most of the time and have considered selling my standard 745.

The unfired 745 IPSC 10th Anniversary pistol will probably always stay with me since it has the same serial number as my unfired since leaving the factory Colt Deluxe IPSC 20th Anniversary pistol

Since your 745 is no longer in unfired condition, I consider yours a shooter. There are many thousand of 745s out there in each of the three configurations the factory offered and not a great deal of demand for them
