5904 TSW
So back several years ago I purchased a 5904 TSW or tactical model NIB. I found out a few months later this was a special run of only 23 built in the Lew Horton Custom Shop. To me this is a 5904 with a rail. Had it been a standard 5904 I would have already run several thousand rounds through it. Is there or will there be any collector value to a gun like this?

Yeah, I would say that gun has some collector value.

I will try to post some pics from my computer in the morning. So what value do you place on the M5946?

One of the moderators (snw19 357) has one, an absolutely beautiful grail pistol. He has some pictures in a thread about 20 down from this one , about Unicorn pistols. I'm not well heeled enough to even think about a price. If you want to sell I would say put it in one of the auction sights and watch it fly. I would go over $1000 for it and I'm Joe Dirt.

That's interesting. Unlike anything I had heard before.

Very nice! Even though I prefer stainless, I could put up with that!

I like how many stainless parts they used in their construction; barrel bushing, pins, sideplate, mag button...

I have a Melonite 5946TSW. It has been difficult to track down information on it. It has the CAI reimport markings on the slide. Spoke with someone that works at CAI and they claimed it came from the RCMP. I have my doubts. It has no RCMP markings at all. Plus, my understanding was that RCMP destroyed retired weapons. It had skateboard tape on the front strap when I bought it. It also has the strangest night sights. The rear is two orange dots and the front is a green dot. I believe I paid under $400 for it. I asked about it here but no one seemed to know much about it.

Is it marked TSW or just a 5946 with a rail? What's the serial number prefix?
On of the Melonite 5946's with the BDX prefix was reported to be (or have gone to the ) RCMP.

Honestly, looking at that I can see why someone paid a lot for a .45 TSW WVSP not too long ago around here. Had I the money, yeah I would pay over a 1000$ for it and shoot the snot out of it.

I bought this gun four years ago with the intent to shoot it. I had grown so frustrated with trying to find a good quality 5904 and then this one appeared. I showed it to my father in law who in turn said don't shoot it because he had never seen one. Which led me to calling S&W and getting the info on it. It has been in the safe ever since. Go figure I always said I would never own one I couldn't shoot and now I've had one for a while now.

The pistol is actually marked 5946TSW. Serial number prefix is VJJ. Barrel is stainless steel. Looks pretty cool.
Strangely, it does not have a magazine disconnect.
I recently purchased a WVSP 4566TSW.......and yes, it is an INCREDIBLE pistol. I had someone post pictures of it here.
