Default Issues with my new full size 1911 E

Just purchased my 4th S&W product. This one being a brand new 1911 E model full size and what a beautiful gun it is. Upon my first field strip I noticed that someone had dry fired the gun without the slide on causing a ding on the edge of the slide block (for lack of a better term). I know this is not a big deal but it's dinged in such a way that the metal is raised a hair causing it to rub when the slide is installed. Second issue - the trigger safety seem to randomly lock up(with the hammer cocked back). In order to make it work I've got to mess around with the gun, racking the slide a few times, dropping the magazine out etc.

I called the guys at the gun store and they were cool with me taking the gun back to them and getting something else (since I just bought it). I also called up S&W and they said they'd fix it for me. What should I do?

Also wanted to add there are areas on the corner of the slide rails where the finish has come up like tiny pitted dots (it's the black model). Is this normal? Again this is a brand new gun.

S&W will make it right if you keep it. Would love to see some pics of the problem areas you are talking about. I have the same gun in stainless and it is one of the best guns I have owned.

Give S&W a shot at it, I'm sure they'll make it right.

Just be warned the pitted areas will probably be considered "cosmetic" and may not be rectified to your liking.
However, I own 5 S&W 1911s currently and my daily carry is a 1911SC Roundbutt E series. Absolutely love it.
So, I would agree to give S&W a shot, but the goal should be to have a sweet shooting reliable 1911 which they'll do but I wanted to warn you about the cosmetic thing.
