4013 value
I've done the research and can't find a solid answer. Looked at a 4013 nontsw today at the local gun store priced at $399+tax. This gun is a LE trade in that has some light handling marks on the slide, no box and one mag. It locks up nicely and the internals look great so I don't think it was fired much. I offered $350 but the guy won't budge. I predominantly look for the 9mm third gens but I own a 4046 as well.
I told him to put it behind the counter as I will probably go back tomorrow to get it if yall think the price is right. I carry a 3913 but would love to have the .40 cal version.
Buy it or pass?
Thanks
Vince

A fair price in todays market I would guess. Built more on the compact 45 frame than a 3913 size. If you find the TSW series compact your full size mags would work in them, grip size closer just shorter in height.

Sounds like a good price. Just make sure that it isn't the single stack version. The magazines for those can be a little bit more difficult to come by.

Mag interchangeability would be nice but since I am a slimmer guy, and will probably carry this firearm in the winter, I am only interested in single stacks. The 4046 is my bedside gun, outfitted with relamped trijicons, and would only be carried in a shtf situation.
I'm sure the single stack mags are just as difficult to find as my 3913 mags. Fortunately the store has about 10 4013 mags in stock, police tradeins, at $23.99 a pop. I even tried to get the guy to throw in a second mag if I paid full price, but he wouldn't budge.
This model has the factory smoothed take down and decocker which appealed to me. There's just something about saving a decent condition, corrections department gun.

Personally, I would see if I could find a really nice (99% or better) 4013 for a few more dollars. But that's me. I would think you could find a like new or 99% pistol with or without the box for around $425-$450. But if you like the one you see and will be happy with the condition, go for it. I would, however, tell the guy, "Come on, throw in one of those used mags with the weak springs. After all, I'm going to have to get a new spring from S&W anyway."
Good luck.

After mulling it over I'm going to save my four benjamins and change and wait for the next best deal to come along. Smith autos show up somewhat frequently in my area of the country. Thanks for the advice
