I came on one of these in my LGS today. Looks like a likely carry piece, but since my last S&W auto was a 39-2, I don't know if these G B or U?

Any experience with this model?

I don't have experience with the DAO model but I own two 457 models that I rate very highly and one is my EDC. In my opinion they are not ugly guns. The good is that the 457 is a great concealed carry weapon being only slightly thicker and heavier than the 3913. The only bad is that it is an economy model so it is less machined and a little less attractive. With your specific model being DAO it will be good for someone who likes DAO in a semi-auto. I don't particularly care for that feature. I also can't remember if your model is a true DAO or whether the hammer is partially cocked by the slide. So the bottom line is that the design of the gun is very good for concealed carry and the 457s usually shoot well and are reliable. Whether or not you will like your particular version depends on your preferences. Also, the D model was produced in limited quantities so it might be something of a collectible. Bill

It's up to you and how far you want to take it like these other members, if I had the chance, yeah I'd get it.

They were originally made for purchase by Chicago Police Dept. members who have to buy ALL their equipment-guns,ammo,leather,uniforms.

If you like DAO guns,you'll like the 457D.

457 itself is a great low cost gun, can't speak to the DAO feature though. Guess it depends on whether or not that is an action you'd want.

What's the LGS asking? What's the condition? What's it come with?

$350 (plus $25 county tax and all other applicables, so roughly $400 OTD).

Some finish wear consistent with holster carry. Action and bore are fine. Gun only AFAIK.

Like the others here, I can't speak for the DAO version, but the 457 I had was a fine shooter. It actually put my 4513 to shame. Wish I hadn't traded it off. Anyway, don't underestimate this model, it's a fine little piece and should serve you well.

Buy it quick! At that price in my area that gun wouldn't last the day....

Other than its black it looks just like my 4046 DOA pistols ( have 2) and if you can deal with dao it should be a good accurate shooter that will keeping on ticking.
