Default 5906 TSW rail on a standard 5906

I am curious to know if a rail taken off a 5906 TSW will fit the profile on a standard 5906.

I'm in the market for one if it will. Am curious to see if it's something that I might like on my shooter.

I believe the frame is cut differently on the TSW as opposed to the 5906. As to whether that will cause the rail not to fit, I'm not sure. You would have to drill a couple of holes & find some rivets that would work.

The frame is different and thicker where the rail attaches. I wouldn't attempt to drill a standard 5906 for a rail.

Bill,

Try the Novak M1913 1911 rails on Novak's website or Brownells. I put one on a 4566. The S&W dustcover profile is nearly a perfect match. They have them in three flavors: Aluminium, Blue Steel and SS.

Some things you have to be cognizant of: The weight of the rail (and light), The thickness of the dustcover and using 8-40 screws and a knifemaker's epoxy. If you do all of those, you'll have a Hell-for-stout (read: Permanent) light rail.

If you send me your address, I have a blued steel one you can have. It may be a few days before I can drop it in the mail, but it's FREE.

PM me at [email protected]

Hope this helps!

I really feel good when a Forum member donates a part to another member.
