Default Bodyguard 380 laser button

I have been looking to buy a BG 380 and have noticed that some have black laser buttons and others have gray. I also noticed that some have a raised circle around the button and others do not have this raise circle. What is the difference is one newer than the other? Does one type not have the button issues of the past?

Also is there a way to use the BG380 serial number to identify manufacture date?

That's an interesting question. My BG has the grey button with the raised circle you made reference to. I didn't realize there was a different style out there. All I know is I periodically push the buttons on either side just to be sure the laser works and haven't had any issues with function at all.

This is mines...

I have seen both in gun shops. B pro had one with black buttons and no circle. I didn't think to look at the serial numbers. I plan to swing by a shop tomorrow and see what the serial numbers are on one vs the buttons and raised circle.

Maybe some others who have more knowledge can shed some light on the differences and help me pick which one to buy. They are all with in a few dollars of each other so that's not an issue. Just want to try and get one with the most possibility of the bugs being worked out.

Thanks for your reply.

When they first made the gun there was an issue with people peeling off the buttons like a pencil eraser. They changed the buttons and also molded a ring around it to prevent this from happening.
