30 caliber barrel for Model 39-2?
Back before the beginning of time when dinosaurs still roamed the earth I had an itch for a model 39 in 30 Luger. Recently my local pusher (LGS) Had a decent 39-2 in 9 mm and I bought it.
Anyone know where I might come by a 30 Luger barrel, and maybe recoil spring and guide rod? They were never common, and it's a number of years since the 39 went out of production.

You might have to have one made. BarSto used to do such things. You might try them.

Yes, I have a lot of brass. The 7.65 mm Parabellum, or 30 Luger has been a long time sentimental favorite.
I have a Ruger P89 and a High Power chambered in 30 Luger. For some reason they have a different guide rod than the 9 mm version, no one has been able to say why. In the case of the High Power I do not have a 30 recoil spring, I run the 9 mm spring and rod with the 30 caliber barrel and it works fine.
For the Model 39, the barrel is the top priority, spring second and rod third. 30 caliber barrels for the model 39 do exist, it's a matter of finding one.

Im still not sure I know the full story of the 30 cal. 39-2. I have read they have German proofs and were shipped to Italy. Myth indicates the 39s were shipped to Germany and the barrels were fit and proofed there. But no
mention of where or who made the barrels.

There are a few 39s in 30 Luger here in the US. I don't know if they came back from Europe or originally sold here. My Ruger P89 was intended mainly for the European market but a few were sold here. Mine has no European proof marks. I also have several European made firearms with no European proof marks. Apparently the European proof laws apply at the retail level.

I believe the Italians, at one time, had a ban on 9mm weapons for civilian use. That is hearsay but I believe it is correct.

I understand some European countries ban civilians having anything over .32 caliber. (Portugal?)
