Default 4006 Bar-Sto

Hi guys, hope this isn't a dumb question but here goes, while searching around on gunbroker I ran across a 4006 Bar-Sto, and have no idea what that is. What got my attention was the $2000.00 dollar asking price. Is this some type of special 3rd gen, never heard of that one or why its listed for that kind of money, not buying it but just interested in what's so special about it. Am I missing something?, thanks for any info

There's no listing for it in the Catalog, that I can find. From the photos, it has a "PCD" serial number, and being a 5" Bar-Sto barrel version, it's definitely a Performance Center product. Maybe a custom for someone, or a "one-off"? Bar-Sto provided the match barrels on the Shorty 40 versions of the 4006. Nice looking pistol, and probably very accurate (although it's curious that it has fixed sights, and not adjustables) but the barrel isn't magnaported or set up as a race gun, so who knows?

Thanks for the reply, I thought it may be a custom gun, but the asking price seems way high to me. What does a Bar Sto barrel mean? That's the term I have never heard before,

Bar-Sto Precision Machine is a company that makes barrels, including customs and alternative caliber "drop in" types for existing models.

Barstow Guns: Bar-Sto Precision Machine
Barstow offered custom barrels for S&W autos at one time (now discontinued)... I had Barstow fit a 9X21 barrel to my 39-2 (still have it). Hell, yes, it will shoot!

The same guy has been listing that gun @ $2000and another @ $1900 for months. I think he has his pictures crossed up now, since both listings have the same pictures.
