My friend has a 4546 in good + condition with box-etc and comes with 6 total mags. I am interested and he wants $550. Any help on price, please.
Thank you

BUY IT !!! I have read they were made in limited amounts (400+) and rarely come up for sale. Google "S&W 4546 for sale", you'll see much higher asking prices.
I have a 4556 (DAO) with 4586 slide and barrel and it's my favorite auto. I think you'll like the 4546 also.

Totally jump on that. The mags alone are $200 depending where you get them.

How are mags $200? It takes a regular 4506/4566 mag. If you'll pay $200 for one of those mags I've got a ton for sale!!!!
Seriously though, sounds like a good deal. Very uncommon pistol. I bought one NIB in 2012 that is fabulous. $550 is a good price.

Sorry no camera. I reload lead bullets. SWC / TC/RN. Any problems with SWC? Thank you
Also might replace recoil and mag springs. Where to buy both? Brownells does not have them.

I think it is overkill to always immediately replace the recoil and mag springs. I own 20+ 3rd gennies and I have never replaced a single spring. When I carried a 4566 On duty I never replaced a spring. Shoot it first then see if it really needs it.

3rd gen S&W are known to shoot everything. I have not tried SWC in either of my 3rd gen 45's but bet they would work.
I found replacement springs at Wolff Springs. I think the 4546 and 4506 would share the same recoil spring. Call them and ask.

Yes - this is what I meant. When I find them, they normally run around $30-35 each. Now if they were going for $200 each, I've got a few to sell......
