Default Unusual Model 52

Had a look at another Model 52.
It has been nickel plated and the only other modification I could see was on the trigger guard.
Quite obvious in this picture.
Anyway I thought it was interesting.

Too bad the finish detracts from the value. Nice gun otherwise.

Are you sure it said 52? That is a majorly different trigger guard. Can't imagine someone modified it that much, you would have to cut off the existing one and weld in that one. Maybe that's why they plated it. Do you have any other pics, maybe the barrel bushing?

Really would love to see some more pics of this 52 and the history of how it became what it is. Thanks for the pic.

It is definitely a model 52-2.I have a few 52-2s and always looking out for a no dash or -1.

The trigger job is so good I could not tell where the welding is, under a magnifying glass it may show up.
I was puzzled looking at it for why the trigger guard modification would have been done.

The nickel plating is also done very well, the S&W logo on the right side is the only stamping that has lost its sharpness. Looking on the left side I thought, wow I have found a nickel 52. If not for the trigger guard I would have purchased it, just in case.
No doubt some people do strange things to their toys.

Not sure if I can get more pictures or the history of the gun.
